Synopsis / description / annotation:

A course in painting with an emphasis on the development of technical skills and expressive abilities. The course is designed to provide the student with  experience in the manipulation of color in a variety of methods. Important components to the course are the study of painting styles and  evelopment of imagery, leading to individual expression in the visual arts.

Content:

Course Objectives: The teaching of painting takes place on three levels; first, we are introduced to the medium of the art work as well as the technological and manual skills. We are taught how to apply colors according to well-established procedures. Second, the level of study changes from manual to ideological. We are encouraged to think about the form and content of the work and are introduced to information from contemporary and past development of the work. Third, we are subjected to self-reflection and processing of information presented by viewers and current tendencies in the society. The aim of teaching is to be able to use painting as a communication channel, and appreciate its material and nonmaterial specifics.
