Course description:

The aim of the course is to develop students' abilities and skills through authentic creative work - using the possibilities offered by modern graphic and industrial design and responding to current developments in society while taking into account practical processual and aesthetic needs in the living and working environment. Students learn about the principles underlying designers' thinking, and are able to access and apply all available information and creative techniques used in contemporary industrial design (e.g. drawing techniques, typography, multimedia, etc.).

Content:

A broad spectrum of these products (e.g. sports equipment, electrical appliances, tools, toys, fashion items, means of transport etc.) draw both on the past (i.e. the strong tradition of craft production) and on a close connection with the present, while naturally looking to the future with the awareness of a deep sense of responsibility for future developments.

  • 1. - 3. Ability to express an idea through drawing, to apply intuition and maximum freedom in the choice of means of expression in a discipline incorporating drawing, typography and multimedia – sports equipment, electrical appliances, tools.
  • 4. – 7. Implementation of principles of compositional solutions and their aesthetic effects on percipients and users – tools, toys, fashion items.
  • 8. - 9. Exploration of links between material, purpose and form – means of transport. Integration of the creative process with the quality of the artefact produced.
  • 10. - 13. Completion and analysis of projects, final adjustments addressing phenomena determining the specific form of industrial design.
