Offer of Placements

The Pedagogical Faculty offers students of its partner universities the opportunity to do Erasmus+ practical placements at various types of schools in Ostrava. Two types of practical placement are available:

1. Placements at schools for international students during/as part of their Erasmus+ study stay

Who is this type of placement for?
Students of pedagogical/education faculties.

When can the placement be done?
From mid-September to mid-December (the winter semester) and from mid-February to mid-May (the summer semester).

Professional Training in Educational and Re-education Institutions (PES/E-PRO)
As part of this course, students become actively involved in educational and therapeutic programmes at re-education, child care and protection institutions – i.e. diagnostic institutions and children’s homes with attached schools. International students on this placement must be accompanied by students from the University of Ostrava’s Pedagogical Faculty. The placement is allocated between 20 and 40 teaching periods per semester; the precise allocation depends on the type and level of the institution.
As part of the placement, students can prepare and implement their own educational activities. On completion of the placement, the student compiles a report from the institution.

Special Education/Practical Placement (SPG/E-PRA)
Students participate in excursions to special educational facilities – schools and institutions for pupils with special educational needs or institutions for adults with special needs.
The institutions include:
Diakonie Ostrava special primary school; Těšínská special primary school, Ostrava; Duhový dům (Rainbow Centre), Ostrava; Ostrava Diagnostic Institute; SVP Koblov educational care institute; and others. The selection depends on the ongoing situation – i.e. the options currently available to the tutor and possibilities offered by the individual institutions. These excursions provide an opportunity for students to observe the educational process, participate in therapeutic lessons, and learn more about special pedagogical practice and related issues in the Czech Republic. The excursions are allocated a total of 10 teaching periods per semester.

2. Placements organized outside the framework of Erasmus+ study stays

Who is this type of placement for?
Students of pedagogical/education faculties.

Minimum language requirements: English language – B1
Spanish language – B1
German language – B1

Length of stay 2–12 months, implementation on the basis of a trilateral agreement between the student, the sending university and the receiving organization.

Where in Ostrava can this type of placement be done? At what types of schools, and in which languages?

  • pre-primary institutions: in English, at state or private institutions
  • primary schools: in English, Spanish or German, at state or private institutions
  • secondary schools, Gymnázium-type schools, secondary art schools, pedagogical lyceums: in English, Spanish or German, at state or private institutions

When can the placement be done?

From January to the end of June, from mid-September to mid-December. Placements cannot be implemented during July and August due to the summer holiday period in the Czech Republic.

Important note:

Please note that these placements are available for Erasmus placement applicants only; preference in the selection of trainees is given to applicants from the partner universities of the Pedagogical Faculty, University of Ostrava.

31. 10. – for placements from January to the end of June
